“For it is in giving that we receive.” – St. Francis of Assisi
We’re not big on bragging here at Klein Tools, but we’re pretty sure we have some of the best customers around. And we’re not JUST talking about the hard-working, dedicated-to-their-craft, tradesperson. We’re talking about the all-around good guys (and gals!).
Case in point: Gerald Schumacher.
Gerald entered our search for the World’s Oldest Pliers earlier this year. He didn’t have the oldest pliers, but at 89 years old, he was the Oldest Original User to submit an entry. This Navy veteran bought his first pair of “Klein’s” back in 1956. Even though he didn’t win the grand prize, we sent him some new tools for sharing his great story, which you can read here.
A few weeks ago, we received a letter (handwritten!) from Gerald with this photo:
Gerald wrote “I have all kinds of Klein Tools,” so he decided to pass along his prize to a much younger generation of electricians. Trevor Wakeley, an electrical apprentice in Gerald’s town of Wausa, Nebraska, was the lucky recipient. And Gerald says Trevor is now a “very happy person.”
Gerald ended the note with this simple message:
It is good to know that people like Gerald are carrying Klein tools in their tool bags. And it is people like Gerald who we hope will be nominated for our first ever Electrician of the Year.
We’re looking for the nation’s most outstanding electrician. We’re looking for the person who exhibits pride in their craft, who takes job-site safety to the highest standards, and who gives back to their community. And we want to recognize and reward this person handsomely.
We’re looking for six regional honorees who will each receive a Klein Ultimate Garage Package. Then from those six, we’ll pick a Grand Prize Winner who will receive $5,000 in cash and Klein tools. But we can’t crown the Electrician of the Year without your help. Nominate your boss, your mentor, your friend, or even yourself! Just make sure you do it BEFORE November 30, 2013.
